A path designed for trekking and nature lovers, immersed in the green hills of Tuscany, in Valdichiana. You will retrace the ancient paths of pilgrims on the Via Lauretana, in the section that involves the entire Valdichiana.
Together with an environmental guide you will depart from Valiano, a hamlet that was a feudal castle in ancient times. Due to its strategic position on the Tuscan-Umbrian border and the role played by the local Del Pecora family, the castle remained an outpost of great historical importance from the 13th century to the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Valiano, with its historic bridge, has guaranteed for centuries the passage of pilgrims heading to Loreto. From here, crossing low-traffic asphalted roads and other dirt roads, you will reach Petrignano (thus entering Umbria for a short period), the hamlet of Montalla and then the ancient Pieve di S. Michele. You will be able to enjoy ever wider glimpses of Valdichiana, and then you will reach Cortona, the final stop of your journey on the Via Lauretana.
During the trek there will be stops to recover energy, have a packed lunch and admire the most beautiful landscapes of Valdichiana. Comfortable clothing, backpack, water, sun cream in Summer and a camera are recommended.
