The Valdichiana Aretina is rich in historical evidences left by the Etruscans, the population who inhabited the Tuscan lands before the Roman occupation. Among the various remains that we still have today in these lands we can admire the village of Cortona, an ancient Etruscan capital (Lucumone) which still retains numerous and important traces of this ancient people.
In Cortona there is in fact a museum entirely dedicated to the Etruscans and their works, the MAEC, which allows everyone, young and old, to learn a lot about the ancient history of the Valdichiana Aretina and its first inhabitants. Immerse yourself in the culture of Cortona's past and learn all about the Etruscans!
