A few kilometers away from Monte San Savino, protected by luxuriant woods, there is the Gargonza Castle, a true medieval fortified village, far from city life but always with a watchful eye on the Valdichiana: its position, in fact, allows to control the entire valley and is one of the most beautiful views in the Arezzo province.
There is not much information about the ancient history of Gargonza Castle except that, in 1302, when the castle belonged to the Ubertini family, the illustrious poet Dante stayed here together with other Florentine exiles.
Subsequently, with the advent of the landowner economy and its subsequent organization, the Castle was inhabited by entire families engaged in local agricultural production. This until the 1970s, when the castle village underwent a real exodus and the owners decided to proceed with the renovation of the estate.
Today, the Gargonza Castle is a widespread hotel. The apartments in the fortified village bear the name of the families who lived there to maintain the agricultural identity that has forever marked life in this place. We organize receptions, conventions and weddings, as well as intimate stays for couples and families.
